An extremal graph with given bandwidth

چکیده
The graph bandwidth problem is a well-known NP-complete problem. The relation between size of a graph and bandwidth is very interesting. The minimum size required in G with bandwidth B is denoted as m(n, B) while the graph G of order n and bandwidth B with size m(n, B) is called an extremal graph. This paper provides the minimum size for a graph of odd order n, n ≥ 9, and bandwidth (n + 1)/2, and shows that K2,n−2 is the only extremal graph of m(n, (n + 1)/2). c © 2007 Elsevier B.V. The Signless Laplacian Estrada Index of Unicyclic Graphs
For a simple graph $G$, the signless Laplacian Estrada index is defined as $SLEE(G)=sum^{n}_{i=1}e^{q^{}_i}$, where $q^{}_1, q^{}_2, dots, q^{}_n$ are the eigenvalues of the signless Laplacian matrix of $G$. In this paper, we first characterize the unicyclic graphs with the first two largest and smallest $SLEE$'s and then determine the unique unicyclic graph with maximum $SLEE$ a...
متن کاملExtremal Graphs for Clique-Paths
In this paper we deal with a Turán-type problem: given a positive integer n and a forbidden graph H , how many edges can there be in a graph on n vertices without a subgraph H? How does a graph look like if it has this extremal edge number? The forbidden graph in this article is a clique-path: a path of length k where each edge is extended to an r-clique, r ≥ 3. We determine both the extremal n...
متن کاملOn generalized atom-bond connectivity index of cacti
The generalized atom-bond connectivity index of a graph G is denoted by ABCa(G) and defined as the sum of weights ((d(u)+d(v)-2)/d(u)d(v))aa$ over all edges uv∊G. A cactus is a graph in which any two cycles have at most one common vertex. In this paper, we compute sharp bounds for ABCa index for cacti of order $n$ ...
متن کاملNote on multiple Zagreb indices
The Zagreb indices are the oldest graph invariants used in mathematical chemistry to predict the chemical phenomena. In this paper we define the multiple versions of Zagreb indices based on degrees of vertices in a given graph and then we compute the first and second extremal graphs for them.
متن کاملOn the extremal total irregularity index of n-vertex trees with fixed maximum degree
In the extension of irregularity indices, Abdo et. al. [1] defined the total irregu-larity of a graph G = (V, E) as irrt(G) = 21 Pu,v∈V (G) du − dv, where du denotesthe vertex degree of a vertex u ∈ V (G). In this paper, we investigate the totalirregularity of trees with bounded maximal degree Δ and state integer linear pro-gramming problem which gives standard information about extremal trees a...
